WCHD Announces COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Updates and Pfizer Boosters

Hagerstown, Maryland (October 1, 2021.)- In an effort to increase the vaccination rate and vaccine equity in Washington County, the Washington County Health Department (WCHD) will be making changes in our vaccine clinic locations and times. As of September 29, 2021 the drive-thru COVID-19 vaccine clinic on 13 W. Lee Street in Hagerstown will be CLOSED for vaccinations.

The WCHD will be holding weekly vaccine clinics at the following locations in the county starting October 4, 2021. A COVID-19 Vaccine and Testing Advisory will be published every Friday with the upcoming week’s schedule of clinics.

Mondays: 9am-3:30pm

• St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave, Hagerstown

Tuesdays: 9:30am -3pm (alternates every other Tuesday)

• Boonsboro American Legion, 710 N. Main St., Boonsboro (starts on Oct. 4)
• Sharpsburg Bible Church, Sharpsburg Bible Church,  5134 General Stuart Drive, Sharpsburg (starts on Oct. 26)

Wednesdays: 1pm-7pm

• Washington County Health Department, 1302 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown

Thursdays and Fridays

All WCHD COVID-19 vaccine clinics offer all three vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson) and welcome walk-in and pre-registered appointments. Pfizer Boosters

The CDC and FDA have given emergency use authorization for a single booster dose of Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people who have previously received Pfizer vaccine who are:

• Individuals 65 years of age and older and all residents of long term care facilities
• Individuals 18-64 years with underlying medical conditions
• Individuals 18-64 years who are at increased risk of COVID-19 because of their workplace or institutional setting

Pfizer boosters are only available for individuals who received Pfizer vaccine for their first two doses. Booster doses must be at least six months after second dose. Individuals will need to self-attest that they are in one of the categories listed above. Proof of 1^st and 2^nd doses of the Pfizer vaccine must be provided by either bringing your CDC vaccine card or going to https://md.myir.net/ to download your vaccination records for free. Pfizer Booster doses are available at all WCHD vaccine clinics.

Individuals who received Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine are not currently eligible to receive a booster vaccination. FDA and CDC are actively working to provide guidance on this issue and updates will be shared as more information is made available. People who are immunocompromised are still eligible for a 3rd dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. 3rd doses are available at all WCHD vaccine clinics with proof of 1st and 2nd doses.

• New COVID Cases: 89 (cumulative total 17,884)
• Additional Deaths: 0 (cumulative total 358)
• Cases Per 100,000 Population: 48.9 (Maryland: 20.67)
• Positivity Rate: 10.68% (Maryland: 4.09%)
• Fully Vaccinated: 47.913% (Maryland: 64.439%)
